PCIA-The Wireless Infrastructure Association has developed this model ordinance to assist municipal authorities with the challenge of siting wireless communications facilities. This ordinance, which is completely free and customizable, provides an even-handed approach for the review of applications, balancing infrastructure needs with community concerns. The ordinance encourages and streamlines collocations on existing facilities, while granting municipalities access to the critical information they need to make informed decisions about new wireless facilities. With this ordinance as a tool, municipalities can adopt code that preserves local interests while ensuring their jurisdiction will be a key player in the wireless future.

North Carolina Model Ordinance
In 2007, North Carolina enacted siting legislation, SB 831, which provides some parameters to guide municipalities in regulating the siting of wireless facilities. PCIA has created a model ordinance completely customized for North Carolina municipalities to comply with this legislation. This ordinance is free to all North Carolina municipalities considering a wireless ordinance and can also be customized in some areas.
Please contact PCIA with any questions on how your community can develop an effective wireless facilities ordinance.
