Impact of Federal Decisions on Siting

PCIA furthers its mission of promoting the deployment of wireless infrastructure by keeping the industry informed of developments that affect its business interests.

To that end, On February 17th, 2010, we presented the following webinar on the impact and implications of two recent federal regulatory decisions.

The first part of the webinar covers a ruling by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) that imposes specific timeframes on tower siting review by zoning authorities. Commonly referred to as "shot clock", this ruling has significant implications for the deployment of wireless facilities.

The second part is regarding the release of the Notices of Funds Availability (NOFA) for the second round of funding in the Broadband Technology Opportunity Program (BTOP) and the Broadband Initiatives Program (BIP), commonly referred to as the "broadband stimulus" portion of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The provisions of the second NOFA differ in important ways from the first.
